Honoring the lost for Memorial Day

Memorial Day weekend is upon us, bringing with it a host of backyard barbecues, baseball games, parades, and pool parties. It is the unofficial start to summer.

But the significance of the holiday is much more solemn. It is the day we remember and honor the men and women of the United States military who never returned home, the ones who died to protect our freedoms and our way of life. May they understand the strong appreciation we have for their sacrifice.

“Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay,” said former President Barack Obama.

As we enjoy this long weekend, let us take a moment to remember why we have this holiday. May we remember those who are not here to mark the occasion with us.
