John Bowles
Bio
John is the Chief Quality and Compliance Officer. He’s responsible for overseeing the agency’s Compliance Plan, Privacy, Incident Management and the agency’s internal Self-Assessment Process.
John has worked in this capacity during his 12 years with sasi. With a combined 30 years in the field of intellectual disabilities, John has held a variety of direct support, clinical and managerial positions which has provided a diversity of knowledge and experiences that he continues to appreciate today. John is fond of sasi’s commitment to individuals with intellectual disabilities and is proud of his Quality Management team.
John is currently a member of the Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York (DDAWNY) Corporate Compliance and Incident Management Sub-Committees. DDAWNY is an organization that fosters collaboration among agencies who support people with disabilities.
Active in the local community, John volunteers as a photographer for Roswell Park Cancer Institute’s, “Ride for Roswell”, is a chaperone for St. John’s the Baptist dances and was a recipient of Buffalo’s Black Achiever’s Award in 2000. He is also an urban poet and has collaborated his love of poetry with Moving Miracles, combining the two art forms at Moving Miracles’ Annual Performance. John is also the founder of sasi’s poetry group, Naked Voices.
John received his Bachelor’s degree from the State University College at Buffalo.
