    • Spread the word about our Buffalo Music Hall of Fame honor

Whether you’ve been humming through a kazoo since childhood or you’re discovering the magic for the first time, today is a perfect day to celebrate this uniquely American instrument—and the incredible people who keep its legacy alive.

What began in 1907 as a hub of American innovation later became a vibrant part of SASI’s mission. In 1985, SASI took the helm of the factory, transforming it into a vocational program designed to teach woodworking, metalworking, and artisan skills to adults with disabilities. Today, more than 30 skilled artisans’ hand‑assemble, hand‑finish, and individually inspect every kazoo that leaves the factory. [sasinc.org]

From the classic metal kazoo to custom designs for musicians and collectors, the factory remains a living piece of Americana—one that continues to inspire creativity, community pride, and plenty of smiles.

National Recognition Worth Buzzing About

This year’s Buffalo Music Hall of Fame Class of 2025 includes world‑renowned musicians and cultural contributors—and among them stands our beloved kazoo factory, spotlighted as a symbol of the unique, playful spirit of Western New York’s musical landscape. [spectrumlo…alnews.com]

News outlets across the region have highlighted this achievement, celebrating not only the factory’s heritage but its modern‑day role as a social enterprise powered by the talent and dedication of SASI participants.

Where Kazoos and Mission Meet

At SASI, our mission is clear:

Connecting people with creative opportunities that honor their choices and fit their lives.

The Kazoo Factory embodies this mission in action. It’s not just a place where kazoos are made—it’s a place where people create, learn, grow, and take pride in their accomplishments. Every kazoo assembled is a testament to the craftsmanship and independence of the individuals who make them.

From guided tours and hands‑on experiences to our popular gift shop, the factory continues to be a joyful space where history, creativity, and community come together.

Happy National Kazoo Day from all of us at SASI!
Let’s keep the music humming.
