In what turned out to be a celebration of direct support professionals today in the State Capitol, Governor Cuomo and the leaders of both Houses, along with the mental hygiene committee chairs, promised a group of bFair2DirectCare demonstrators that they all support the addition of funds to increase direct care salaries.

Governor Cuomo Pledges to Include $55 Million in NYS Budget to Boost Direct Care Wages

Today, during the "Ring of Care" Rally, Governor Cuomo pledged his support to include $55 Million in the NYS Budget.  He announced his commitment to include funding for a 3.25% wage hike for direct care workers starting in January 2018...and an additional 3.25% wage hike for direct care staff starting in April 2018, for a total of 6.5% for the direct care workforce.

SASi mission is to provide to adults, children, and elderly individuals in need of services, habilitative and rehabilitative programs, including both work and non-work related programs providing meaningful activity, evaluation, supportive social services, transportation and counseling in human relationships; and to provide services including community residential facilities, to individuals described in the first sentence; and in furtherance of the purposes set forth above to establish, operate and maintain one or more community residences.
