A carnival-themed summer picnic was held at the Yorkshire Day Hab on Thursday, August 30, 2018. The full day of fun started with traditional carnival games such as a fishing duck pond and can shoot.
A few staff “clowned around” as they came appropriately dressed for the occasion. A circus popcorn machine provided the morning snack, followed by face painting and a clown-head craft.
Silly props and a carnival backdrop provided ongoing laughter as everyone posed for amusing pictures. After a tasty cheeseburger lunch, everyone played outdoor games of ring toss and clown bean bag toss.
Afternoon treats from Chilly Billy’s Ice Cream Truck were greatly enjoyed by all. Charlie Rothman’s family donated the snacks in memory of Charlie, who was a past Yorkshire program participant and loved ice cream.
The grand finale was a water toss that resulted in wet sponge balls being targeted at “Bethe the Clown.” Everyone happily went home with prizes and balloons!
