The SASi Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce three funding awards, totaling nearly $26,000, for the first quarter of 2017.
The Board approved the purchase of two Touch Stream tablets and six months of service, for a total of $1220. Touch Stream devices are designed to provide individuals with assistance managing medications, chronic health conditions, doctor appointments, independent living tasks, etc. and are designed to help prepare individuals to live more independently.
Also approved by the Board was were plans to construct a $2500 concrete patio in the backyard of the Paxon Road IRA in Eden. The house has a large yard and park-like setting but does not have a safe outdoor area for patio furniture. The addition of the concrete patio will give individuals a place to sit, socialize and enjoy some privacy.
Lastly, the Foundation Board approved the construction of a $22,500 shelter at the Derby Day Habilitation Building. The Derby Day Hab building and two SASi apartment buildings share property, and the shelter will be placed in between them for use by all individuals and staff.
