The High Hurdles Therapeutic Riding Program provides a therapeutic riding experience for individuals with developmental disabilities. The program has expanded over the years and currently serves hundreds of riders, from age three to eighty-three years of age. High Hurdles offers cognitively, emotionally and physically challenged individuals a unique opportunity for growth and development. Instructors, students, horses and volunteers all work together to achieve challenging yet attainable horsemanship goals. Learning to care for and about horses while mastering riding skills is what High Hurdles is all about.
Summary of Duties:
Provides oversight to all aspects of the High Hurdles Therapeutic Riding program. Schedules all riding sessions, provides therapeutic riding instruction to individuals with disabilities, trains and cares for the horses, and recruits and trains volunteers. Ensures adequate and sufficient equipment and supplies for program, horses, barn and arena operation.

Flexible work hours, to include evenings and weekends in a variety of weather conditions.
Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) certified instructor with one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities. If not currently certified be willing to become certified OR A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individuals with disabilities as a therapeutic riding instructor AND Solid background in horsemanship, knowledge of various disabilities and skills in therapeutic riding techniques.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and other state requirements to work with the disabled population.
